Pay—The Reverb Standard Deal Memo
This is to
serve as the standard deal memo between The Reverb and the performers on any
given paying show. Percentages can be
negotiated BEFORE the night of the show if you wish.
We do
guarantees only to those acts that can in turn guarantee us a crowd. The Reverb deal memo is based on the premise
that bands will get paid directly from the door unless there is a pre-arranged
guarantee or other agreement. The Reverb
deal memo works in the following manner:
A typical
show will range between $3-$6 dollars. This amount is determined based on the
following factors: whether or not there is a pre-arranged amount agreed to by
both The Reverb and the performers, the number of bands on the bill, the number
of out of town bands on the bill, the number of anticipated under 21 audience
members, and the night of the week or a special event. The Reverb will typically charge $1 to $2 extra for those patrons that
are under 21 for the simple fact that they cannot buy drinks from the bar.
Bands take
100% of the door AFTER expenses.
Our
expenses will typically be broken down in the following manner:
Sound will take $25 per band with a
$100 limit off the top of the gate
For a bill of 3 or less bands, Sound
will take a $25 bonus after 65 people paid.
For a bill of 3 or less bands, Sound will take an extra $25
bonus after 130 people paid.
For bills of 4 or more, Sound will take an extra $25 bonus
from the door gate after 130 people paid.
Maximum sound payout of gate will be
$125.
The Reverb reserves the right to
take out $30 for a door guy after $600 on the door.
The Reverb reserves the right to take 20% of the door after
a gate of $800.
All ages
shows in which crowds are at least 75% under the age of 21 will be worked in a
different manner. The Reverb reserves
the right to take up to $2 per person under the age of 21 out of the gate total
before expenses and paying bands.
The door
total minus expenses will typically be broken down in the following manner
unless negotiated otherwise BEFORE the show:
For a one-band bill: The band receives 100% after expenses.
For a two-band bill: Headliner 70%, opener 30%.
For a three-band bill: Headliner 50%, openers
25% each.
For a four-band bill: Headliner 40%, each opener 20% each.
Band members
21+ will also receive ½ price standard domestic beers at the bar and $1 off any other drink.
In addition, all band members get free soda and juice at the bar.
Shows with
guarantees are not subject to the terms of this deal memo.
The Reverb
reserves the right to re-negotiate the terms of this deal memo. However, we
agree to do so with all acts BEFORE the night of the show. Situations in which we might want to
re-negotiate: two bands with equal draws
on one bill; a bill with several out of town acts, a special event such as a
benefit show or CD release party; others which may not be described in this
deal on a case by case basis.
In the
event of a bust night and we don't cover the costs involved in this deal memo, we will re-negotiate terms after the show. As a general rule a band will not leave with
less than some gas money as well as the usual drink specials.
